VP & Actuary, Pricing Team Lead

Zurich is currently looking for a VP & Actuary Pricing Team Lead to work out of our North American head-quarters based out of our Schaumburg, IL office.

This individual will provide actuarial leadership to support pricing activity across multiple lines of business. The individual will oversee technical price certification including leading the assessment of the quality of technical price for ZNA portfolios and working with the line of business teams to develop pricing quality improvement plans where needed. The individual will provide consultation, peer review and coaching to other actuarial staff as needed and will manage priority projects having multi-line impact. The position requires a deep knowledge of the property & casualty insurance industry, products and customers. An ability to consult with both actuaries and non-actuaries to understand needs and resolve business issues is a must.

As part of our Actuarial team, you will have the opportunity to provide your actuarial technical expertise and thought leadership for many commercial insurance products for our North America Commercial Insurance Business Units. You will be accountable for projects and initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and the communication of information and results across the organization.

Client Internally Focused - The job's core deliverables rely on delivering service to internal clients, usually at the line manager or employee level. May involve sharing subject matter expertise to others in the organization or supporting others in their efforts to deliver on our promise.

This role is responsible for:

+ Leading the pricing of new/renewal business and development of effective pricing/rating structures in complex environments and lines of business
+ Manage profit margins on new and renewal business and lead analyses related to tracking and improving portfolio performance
+ Coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses including trend analyses, reinsurance analyses and analyses of loss and expense reserves as it relates to pricing adequacy and strategic direction
+ Collaborate with and influence Market Facing and Product Underwriting on strategic portfolio and individual account pricing decisions
+ Provide consultation, direction, and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues
+ Lead the design, testing and maintenance of pricing models and tools
+ Interface with regulators and auditors on pricing issues
+ Remain current with regulatory/market conditions and apply this knowledge in pricing
+ Take a lead role in pricing accounts, performing risk transfer analysis, and reviewing collateral needs
+ May interact with external customers and clients through the pricing of large, complex products and individual accounts

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
+ Experience leading cross-functional teals
+ People management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field with a mathematical, statistical or numerate background
+ Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and in multiple business units
+ Previous actuarial experience with P&C and Specialty commercial business lines of business
+ Solid project management and organizational skills to work on multiple priorities, establish and meet deadlines
+ Excellent communication skills in order to partner cross functionally within the organization
+ Knowledge and skills reflective of a senior practitioner who has progressed within Actuarial positions of increasing responsibility
+ Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or knowledge of statistical analysis software
